Program Design.
City of Knowledge’s preschool program is designed for children ages two and-a-half through four years of age. Our unique balanced curriculum includes both teacher-guided and open-ended activities. We believe that providing engaging and enriching planned lessons, and fostering learning through play, are not mutually exclusive concepts. Our primary focus is on each child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in a safe, Islamic environment that preserves and nurtures each child’s fitrah.
Our thoughtfully enriched and comprehensive preschool program and curriculum incorporate whole, small, group, and individual activities through a range of teacher-guided and open play activities to actively engage all learners. Students begin learning and developing skills and understanding in early literacy (in both English and Arabic), math, science, and art. Preschool students also learn songs and anasheed in both English and Arabic. They practice these skills through a range of activities including hands-on exploration and understanding, as well as teacher-guided instruction. Our small class size allows students to receive individualized attention and instruction as needed.
Islam & Arabic.
Not only are Qur’an, Arabic, and Islamic studies incorporated into the preschool curriculum, the entire program has been developed from an Islamic worldview, planting the seeds of belief in the young children throughout the year.
Students learn the foundations of faith and belief in Allah (swt) as the Creator. They learn about the Prophet (s) and his righteous household. They memorize several short surahs from the Qur’an as well as duas, and they learn Arabic letters and words for colors, animals, shapes, and more, as well as songs in Arabic.
They also learn Islamic and ethical concepts such as kindness, cleanliness, and generosity.
