About our Distance Learning Program

Since campus closed on March 13, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, City of Knowledge immediately implemented a comprehensive distance learning program that will continue through the end of the school year. Our teachers and staff worked incredibly hard to make the transition to distance learning as smooth as possible. While much has changed, the core values of our work endure: we have continued our focus on the growth, development, and learning of our students, and have continued to nurture them from the inside out and focus on their Islamic values. Furthermore, we understand the current circumstances are extremely challenging on some families, so our priority is our students’ emotional, mental, and physical health. Teachers and staff are aligned on this being a matter of critical importance during this time.

Students have been engaging in daily video-conferencing lessons with their regular teachers and are using a variety of online resources to continue their learning interactively. We have also had the opportunity to bring guest speakers, including Islamic speakers, from different areas to complement our existing program and enhance our students’ distance learning experience. The depth, breadth, and pacing of daily lessons have kept children on track with learning goals appropriate to their respective grade levels.

Access and Equity

We acknowledge that many families do not have access to devices or WiFi, and worked hard to ensure everyone was working from a level playing field prior to the commencement of our distance learning program. We helped families without WiFi get set up, purchased devices to loan out to families without devices for each student, and loaned out devices to all families who needed them.

Family and Community Support

We have created a COVID-19 support fund where individuals can donate to families who are in need due to loss of income, school lunches, or other hardships right now. Those who wish to contribute to the fund may contact us at info@cityofknowledge.com.

Those who need help right now—whether with financial means, grocery shopping, or for other reasons, are encouraged to fill out our support request form and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
